Abstract:Based on ethnographic poetics, in view of the “three-beauty” principle of Xu Yuanchong's poetry translation as well as the notion of tolerance and understanding of ethnic culture, this paper analyzes the ethnic culture presentation in English translation of Mao Zedong's poetry. Through content analysis of Xu Yuanchong's English translation of Mao's poetry, it is found that the ethnic culture presentation of “Xu's translation” is mainly reflected in the translation of tune names and folk songs in terms of inheritance, ethnicity and inclusiveness, conveying distinctive ethnic language acoustics and intense performance characteristics, which has some dissolving effects on the boundaries between regional knowledge and global concepts, in-group ethnic culture and out-group cultures.
