Abstract:Huainanzi is an important classic in the history of Chinese thought and culture. Its translation and introduction have received a certain amount of attention in the English-speaking world, but obviously not with a due degree. Based on network big data, using data collation and empirical analysis as research methods, this paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to carry out multi-level description and multi-perspective analysis on the acceptance of Huainanzi in the English world. The research's findings: The Huainanzi, the full translation of Huainanzi by John Major's team in 2010, received more acceptance than the other translations and played a significant role in the translation and dissemination of Huainanzi; John Major's translation in 1993, Liu D.C.Lau's and Roger T. Ames' translation in 1998, and Charles Le Blanc's doctoral dissertation in 1985 are also of great value and reference for the study of Huainanzi; but the studies of the other translations, such as Huai Nan Zi, the full translation jointly translated by Chinese scholars Zhai Jiangyue and Mou Aipeng, are quite rare in Western world; therefore, the translation and dissemination as well as spreading and the study of Huainanzi in the English-speaking world has a long way to go.
