During his studies and life in France, Changyu (1901-1966) created a large number of ink and watercolor works on paper using the sketching technique. Combing and interpreting these works, it can be seen that he actively participated in the wave of Western modern art and explored the stylistic language and creative rules of the artists active in Paris, while the traditional Chinese cultural genes running in his bones gave his art a deep imprint of Chinese cultural tradition and aesthetic tradition. He tried to open the door of Western modern art with his classically trained hand, and eventually formed the "Changyu style", which is full of creativity and modern awareness.
