Abstract:Starting from the concepts of “Translation”, “Introducing China to the West” and “Going into the West to introduce China”, this paper discusses Lin Yutang’s strategies of integrated adding introduction, intetextality and analogy, explanation and annotation, extraction and expansion, translation and writing, and points out that Lin Yutang’s identity is multidimensional and he is not only an ambassador of Chinese and western cultures, but also a linguist, writer, translator and editor. Therefore, his views on culture, language, literature and translation interact with each other and complement each other. His strategy of “Going into the West to introduce China” is the embodiment of his views on culture and translation as well as his purpose of cultural translation in practice.
